Equipment Donation
Joey's Wheelchair Lift

MPVA's Equipment Donation Program focuses on the needs of people with spinal cord injury or disease. We only accept items that help people with mobility issues. For example, we accept donations of wheelchairs, power chairs, adaptive sports equipment, hoists, lifts, and other items that help people who cannot easily move. We also accept medical supplies (not medicine) such as catheters when they are in original, unopened sterile packaging.

We are grateful for the contributions of clean, usable items that we can give to people in need, however...please note the following points:

MPVA does NOT pick up the items you wish to donate. They must be delivered to our office during regular office hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday).

If your donation is not in working order, or if it is not newly cleaned and ready for us to give away, we will not accept it. We do not have a repair shop.

The donation of a power chair or manual wheelchair must be accompanied by all working parts, i.e., a fully-charged battery, the original footrests, clean cushions, and if possible, the owner's manual.

If these guidelines apply to the items you want to donate, please deliver them to MVPA with a written inventory of your contribution. When your contributions meet these standards, we will accept them for re-distribution to those in need, and provide you with a receipt for your tax purposes. MVPA is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and gifts to MVPA are tax-deductable.

If you are in need of medical equipment or have some items that you would like to donate, please contact us at 1-800-638 MPVA (in Michigan), 248-476-9000 or by e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

If you have a used vehicle you would like to donate and would like MPVA to receive the proceeds, please contact Charity Motors at 313-255-1000 or www.charitymotors.org. Please specify that you would like your donation to go to Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America. Your donation is tax-deductible according to current IRS standards.
