Sports and Recreation

MPVA Sports Logo

MPVA proudly hosts or sponsors wheelchair sports and recreation programs throughout Michigan, summer or winter.  We are eager to share info about upcoming events, and want to include your activities, too.

Our national organization, Paralyzed Veterans of America, offers bass, trapshooting, billiards, and bowling tournaments available to all chapter members.

Did you know that PVA pioneered wheelchair basketball?

Veterans who fought in World War II began playing wheelchair basketball at VA hospitals, they and the VA recognized sports as a valuable rehabilitation tool.  PVA helped to organize games in communities around the country, and organized wheelchair sports were born.  Since that time, PVA has remained a recognized leader in wheelchair sports.

The fun is waiting for you!
